Exciting Times Indeed!
As you can see, if you've been following this blog, it's been some time since I've updated it. The primary reason is because I am now authoring a blog for the Bangor Daily News, and as of today, I've been invited to author a blog for that venerable publication of farm life, the Grit. Some of you will remember the Grit, others may still subscribe to it. When I was a kid growing up on the family farms, the Grit was read by the elders, and I even had a deliverly route for the Grit for a short time. So, as you might imagine, this is very exciting for me. It gives me an opportunity to broaden my readership horizons on more of a national level, promote not only my blogs, my book, "Memories of Shucking Peas", but to continue to grow a network that may lead to further newspapers/blogs/magazines writing opportunities. It may be possible, at some point, to actually become a full time writer--one that can support himself doing so. We all have our dreams, no?
Also, I am now writing a new novel--a work of fiction--entitled "The Hind-Tit Chronicles". It is the story of a lovable loser who in spite of his best (and sometimes worst) efforts finds himself perpetually last in line. It is a serio-comic story of the Human spirit filled with a light hearted look at some of the darkness many folks experience in life, and the will to keep marching on, to stay positive in a world gone very negative. A sign of our current times, perhaps.
I am pleased that I have also entered into an agreement with a very sharp young man who is smart, savvy, and incredibly charming, to be my editor and agent. I believe this young man will be able to provide me with the electronic/internet pathways to get my writing out to the masses much better than I ever could. We both believe that as a team we can grow a solid readership and he is the person who can effectively market my writing. Exciting to be sure. More on this as it developes.
Finally, I'd like to leave you all with a link to my blog on the Bangor Daily News, so those who wish can follow me there and read on that blog what I would typically post here. If I can figure out how to "marry" the two, I will have that blog post here...untill then, it's only a click away.
I will also provide the link to my blog on the Grit, once it's been established.
Happy news, eh?
